Time's Mike Murphy Sees Problems with Palin

After being caught on an open mic at MSNBC calling the Sarah Palin pick "gimmicky", GOP pundit Mike Murphy explains why he has such trouble jumping on the McCain-Palin bandwagon full-force.

Murphy writes he doesn't really like the effect Palin will have on the GOP ticket after the shimmer wears off.

He says despite all of her small town charm, Palin "is still a pick aimed squarely at the Republican base." No kidding.

After McCain's speech Thursday night (Sep 4), you would have thought they both were running as Independents. The fact remains that Palin is even more of a right wing conservative than John McCain.

"I'm worried about everybody else we need to win and I fear that among those voters, Sarah Palin will be a dud," Murphy writes concerning the idea of Palin appealing to swing voters.

Murphy says republicans are in "deep love" with Palin at the moment, but she will ultimately polarize people with all this "us vs. them" talk.

And yes he does admit that Palin's "inexperience is a weakness" and by picking her, it has snatched one of the McCain campaigns most effective arguments from them.

He bottomlines it by writing: "Interesting person, bad strategic choice to win the election."

If you've seen the video, Murphy and Peggy Noonan were caught on tape slamming the nomination of Sarah Palin for VP.

A more right wing version of McCain in a dress, a younger body and a pair of glasses isn't going to convince voters sitting on the fence not to vote for Barak Obama, nor will it convince the majority of the millions of Hillary Clinton supporters to jump ship.
