Update: McCain VP Pick Takes Experience Off the Table

Barak Obama gave one of the absolute best addresses in the history of this country last night. So what did I say when I woke up this morning? That would be: John McCain's choice for vice president is.....who?!?

Republican nominee John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his vice president, making a decision which only confirms the previous criticism leveled against Barak Obama's alleged "lack of experience" by McCain was a pile of crap.

Talk about flip-flopping!

Aside from the fact that Palin is even younger than Obama, she also has no experience on the national level and absolutely no foreign policy experience whatsoever.

Some say this was an attempt to appeal to those Hillary Clinton supporters. Those Clinton supporters who at least publicly expressed an unwillingness to vote for Obama because of his alleged "lack of experience" don't really gain anything by running over to McCain's side now.

Not only is she a national unknown, she's also currently under investigation for an incident in Alaska involving abusing her office as Governor.  With this, out goes the minuscule connections to Tony Rezco and the 1000 year old Weather Underground criticisms leveled against Obama by the republicans.

Repackaging John McCain in a skirt and a 44 year old body isn't a reason to vote for him anymore than giving Obama the nod because of his race. From cursory searches, don't even get me started on her stances on the issues!

Obama spokesperson has responded to this news:

"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency. Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same."

Maybe a new Obama slogan towards Palin could be "More of the same...in a skirt".

Interestingly enough, Palin praised Barak Obama's energy plan earlier this month (see Huffington Post ).

Is this a reactionary pick? Some political observers say absolutely. It appears to be a reaction to both the Obama-Biden combination but more obviously, it's in response to the way Obama has tapped into the nation's unwillingness to continue to suffer with spiraling costs, losing their homes, record bankruptcy levels and back-breaking food and gas prices.

Will McCain be able to sell her (no insult intended) as 'change' even though she's even more conservative then he is? Time will tell.
